TRAINING SERVICES

$600 per month
I accept a limited number of dogs for bird dog training each year. Training is
offered for both pointing and retriever breeds, with the Trained Retrieve being
my specialty. All training is done using Rick Smith's Silent Command
System. From basic obedience through a finished gun dog, we will help your
dog to be the best it can be. Client dogs come here from across the USA, as well
as Canada and New Zealand.
I'm now booking for my winter trip to
Oklahoma in January and February....great experience for your dogs! Give me a call to book your
spot! 715-499-4008
I train using pigeons first, then game birds as the dog gains
confidence.
Owners are encouraged to participate in their dog's training, as it will help
them have a better relationship with their dog and better understanding of how
to best continue when they take their dog home.
If you're more of a hands-on dog owner and just want some guidance, another
option is private training sessions where you bring your dog to our
kennel for work sessions on an as-needed basis. These sessions are $45
per hour (plus birds, if required). These lesson situations are very
popular with our clients, as they are instructed on how to work with their dog
on a certain skill during that hour and then take the lesson home to
practice. This gives you the pride of accomplishment, being able to say
you trained your own dog.
Another popular option is "Doggie Daycare training", where you can drop your
dog for the day and train, This allows your dog to return home
each night and be part of your family, while attending "school" during the day.

TRAINING GROUNDS
In addition to several thousand acres of local woods, ponds and fields, I also make use of
areas like the Mead Wildlife dog training area near Stevens Point and the Prairie
Chicken grounds near Wisconsin Rapids.
Several times each year we head to central Kansas, where training dogs have a
marvelous opportunity to run on wild birds. We have access to
thousands of acres of ground, and lots of pheasants and quail, all wild birds,
to train on. It takes birds to make a bird dog and these trips are highly
beneficial.
